Why I’m posting this link: I’ve been hesitating to reblog or post anything about this incident the way I always hesitate about reblogging or posting something about gender identity – I’m still scared that someone might react negatively to my personal experience. But I liked the tone of this MIC article, so I think it’s worth sharing it.

Because Septentrion liked the idea of journaling templates…

I’m still shying away from actually getting started with my bullet journal, although I bought a really beautiful paperblank for that purpose last autumn. It’s so pretty! What if I mess it up? My somewhat more valid excuse is that I’m still trying to figure out for what and how I want to use it.

On the one hand there’s planning and habit tracking and getting things done, chores, paid work, personal projects. On the other hand, there’s journaling for emotional and mental self-care… reflection to improve my understanding of myself and my journey, gratitude for good things and appreciation of my life, allowing myself to acknowledge achievements to boost my self-esteem…

Do you have any tips and tricks? Do you do any kind of journaling or diary-type blogging?

Who’s Afraid of Gender-Neutral Bathrooms? – The New Yorker

Amid a debate over transgender rights, Jeannie Suk explores why restrooms are the last public vestige of gendered social separation in America.

I seriously don’t get what the big deal is.

The spa we go to has gender-neutral locker rooms. So what if you catch sight of an ugly penis or a pair of sagging boobs? You probably have one or the other or both yourself. No one cares. You’re there to change for swimming & sauna.

The thing with bathroom makes even less sense. There are stalls. You won’t see anything at all except closed stall doors. You’re there to pee and poop. And to take care of your monthly business if you’re a person with a working vagina. Normal bodily functions all around, no matter what your gender is.

People need to get their minds out of the gutters and get over themselves. Seriously. I promise you won’t catch the cooties by sharing a bathroom or a locker room.
